About

Hi, I'm Jackson! jacksoncole.org is my small corner of the internet. Here's a bit about me and what I'm about.

I'm married to my lovely wife who I met in fourth grade and am dad to the coolest three-year-old on the planet. I love animals, especially my dog, Murphy. I love music of all genres and have been picking on the guitar since I was five. I love tinkering and building, whether it be with a table saw or in a terminal.

I'm more curious than I have time to be, but I love figuring out how and why things work, how to do something new, or why people think the things that they do.

In 2018, I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Physics. Along the way, I was able to work on Exoplanet Detection and Confirmation during an NSF Funded REU in Wyoming and to analyze a whole bunch of data and learn that machines do it better at the La Serena School for Data Science in Chile. I also spent a sizable portion of my time at the MTSU Observatory talking to visitors about astronomy or observing.

Observational astronomy produces quite a bit of data, which meant that I needed to improve my programming chops in order to make use of it all. I soon started gravitating toward programming intensive projects and tinkering often... now I do it professionally.

Currently, I'm a Lead Software Engineer at CodeSecure, Inc.
